Cats
Now we're talking about my other love, my kitties. I have 3 cats. I would have more but that want and desire has been curtailed for the moment, at least. Right now, my kitties are Pepper, Cleo and Parko. Pepper is my little baby. She's a black and white, little, sucky baby who loves to cuddle and snuggle. She came with the apartment I rented in Toronto 5 years ago and I love her to bits. At the time I acquired pepper, I thought she needed a friend to keep her company while I was at work. I went to the Animal Aid in Burlington and saw a sad, white, fluffy cat sitting in the window, so I did what every soft hearted person would do: I took her home. That's Cleo. She was neglected and fully declawed (front and back) by her former owner. She wouldn't even respond to her name and she snapped at you when you tried to pet her. Well, after 5 years and a lot of love and patience, she is now a sweet-tempered kitty...and dumb as a stump. :) That's okay though, cats don't need brains. Last is Parko. He was a guest at my home. A colleague at work asked if I could watch him for a couple of months while she looked for a new apartment. That was almost 2 years ago. Parko is a beautiful ginger tabby cat, full of spunk and spirit. Too much spunk for his own good, most times. If trouble occurs, Parko will be in the centre of it...or the cause of it. If you don't get him what he wants, he'll just get it himself. He'll ask you to follow him and he'll lead you to whatever he wants. He's a constant source of amusement.
I also have a guinea pig named Spekkie. I know he's not a cat, but he thinks he is and the cats also believe he's an ugly, dumb kitty. Spek is the Dutch word for bacon. I felt it was appropriate for a guinea pig. He also comes from the humane society. They told me that he was found abandoned in a field. I personally think his former owners were sick of his orneriness and got rid of him. He's known as the attack pig. He'll bite your fingers, and hates to be held. He only likes the cats. That's okay. He has a job as a garbage disposal unit and he lets us scratch him on the nose. He'll tolerate that much.
... Cleo doing what she does best: sleeping on the clothes pile.
... Parko waiting for a treat. I kept them in my desk drawer and while I work on the computer he hovers over my shoulder until he gets one.
...and here's Pepper, posing for the camera.
... here's my attack guinea pig, Spekkie. He doesn't look fierce but watch out for the teeth!!
